This position requires working/living at remote (out of town) project sites within Alberta and BC. Rotations vary depending on project placement (e.g.: 10/4, 5/2, 9/5).

Here's how a(n) Senior Project Accountant for our Canadian Industrial sector contributes to our team:

  • Assemble client billing packages in accordance with contract terms and conditions; follow up to ensure timely payment.
  • Reconcile and process all project-related accounts payable, general expenditures, and internal costing allocations in a timely and accurate manner in order to meet all contract terms, and PCL policy and procedures.
  • Participate in monthly forecast review meetings for assigned projects to provide input on project reconciliations and project financial status.
  • Ensure that all required documentation, including insurance, bonding, WCB, and statutory declarations are in place.
  • Review and analyze monthly contract reports to ensure accuracy of cash flow, profit recognition, and ledger balance.
  • Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders, as required.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer-focused relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Assist with ad-hoc reports/analysis, internal/external audits, and year-end procedures as assigned.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary degree or diploma in a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry; understands general construction terms and processes.
  • Knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Understanding of accounting principles, including maintenance of ledgers and cash flows.
  • Strong organizational skills and high level of detail orientation with the ability to accurately prepare and enter financial information to meet deadlines and requirements.
  • Basic understanding of project forecasting and budgeting.
  • Knowledge of project costing principles and contract/subcontract requirements as related to project accounting.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment, with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge and experience with accounting software. Specific experience with Oracle/E1 is an asset.
