Purpose of Role: Weir Marine Engineering currently has a challenging opportunity for a Chemistry Lab technician. This position is for a Co-op student (Part-time) with possible full time and is based at the Naval Engineering Test Establishment (NETE) in Montreal (LaSalle), Quebec.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct testing and analysis of Petroleum, Oil, and Lubricant (POL) samples to ASTM, ISO or CFTO standards in support of NETE Tasks.
- Develop, write, and revise Work Instructions (WI) that pertain to the instrumentation being used in the Chemistry Laboratory.
- Maintain Chemistry Laboratory equipment and update their respective maintenance records.

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered for candidates that have the ability to perform the objectives above.
- DEC in one of the sciences or equivalent and currently enrolled in a science field at a University.
- Bilingual (English / French) and ability to communicate effectively at all levels with peers, supervisors and clients.
- Thorough knowledge of standard MS Office software such as Outlook Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and the ability to quickly adapt to new technology and to acquire new technical skills.
- Eligible to obtain a Government of Canada security clearance, which requires Canadian citizenship and 10 years of residence in Canada (MANDATORY).
