Position Scope

We are seeking a Director of Business Development to lead sales initiatives throughout NACG and its subsidiaries. This is a great opportunity for a natural relationship builder who knows and understands mining, heavy civil, and infrastructure projects at a national level. Responsibilities

What You’ll Be Doing

Business Development & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in mining and heavy civil infrastructure projects.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, industry partners, and stakeholders.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations and proposals to prospective clients.
  • Engage with industry associations, attend conferences, and participate in trade shows to enhance the company's visibility and network.
  • Keep abreast of industry changes in process, products, and opportunities and communicate information to appropriate personnel.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing exceptional customer service and support.
  • Develop and manage Indigenous Relations.

Sales and Revenue Growth:

  • In conjunction with the Executive team, coordinate the strategic revenue growth plan for the organization.
  • Achieve sales targets and revenue goals set by the organization.

Market Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct thorough market research to identify potential opportunities in the mining and heavy civil sectors.
  • Identify and integrate merger and acquisition opportunities.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to inform business strategies.
  • Develop and maintain a database of potential clients and projects.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of business development activities, client interactions, and project progress.
  • Prepare regular reports on business development performance and present to senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

Management & Leadership

  • Provide leadership to the Communications and Marketing team.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to effectively execute mergers and acquisitions that will result in added value for the organization.
  • Work closely with the Estimating team to generate focused, concise, and high-quality responses to Expressions of Interest, Requests for Qualifications, and Requests for Proposals.
  • Work with the Estimating, Project Development, and Operations teams to provide proposals, prequalification documents, pre-construction estimates, and development strategies.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What Makes You the ONE

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree or MBA is preferred.
  • Specialized training in strategic sales tactics and/or strategic planning.
  • 10 years’ experience gained through increasingly responsible management positions within Business Development or Sales.
  • Industrial construction and/or mining industry experience preferred.
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions preferred.
  • Financial knowledge and acumen.
  • An extraordinary team leader, an astute business person, exhibiting exceptional business insight, showing executive/boardroom presence and outstanding judgment.
  • Knowledge to excel as a skillful negotiator and influencer with the ability to get teams aligned and engaged.
  • Ability to use exceptional problem-solving skills with the adaptability and flexibility to navigate and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Ability to develop and foster long-term client relationships and working relations across diverse units.
  • Proven track record of securing and managing large-scale projects in the mining or heavy civil construction sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of mining and heavy equipment.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and market trends to make informed business decisions.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.
  • Able to work collaboratively with other organizational and functional leaders and external client leaders and managers, with the interest and ability to mentor others.
  • Results-oriented with a customer and client focus.
