Starting Wage: $25 per hour. This is the starting wage for this role and may vary based on internal equity, and a candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Position Summary: Reporting to the Senior Manager, Information Technology, the Support Technician is a hands-on member of the IT team. The Support Technician is responsible for ensuring efficient, secure and reliable access to workstation applications, network resources and telephone services. This is a contract, part-time, hourly role, working Saturday, Sunday, and one day during the week (flexible). This role supports users at whistler.com, Tourism Whistler, the Whistler Golf Club, and clients of the Whistler Conference Centre.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a Tourism Whistler ambassador, living our purpose and vision with passion & energy, achievement and respect
  • 1st and 2nd level support
  • Assist with installation, configuration and ongoing usability of system hardware (Dell, Palo Alto, Cisco) and software (MS, Symantec)
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues in person, remotely, and via phone
  • Creation of documentation for IT systems and processes
  • Setup IT requirements for groups within the Whistler Conference Centre
  • Ensuring data integrity, backup and archiving of all whistler.com systems occur as scheduled
  • Ad hoc project support

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Degree or Diploma in Computer Science or related field
  • MCSE, MCP, A+, CCNA an asset
  • Ability to learn and understand new technologies quickly
  • 3+ years’ experience with Active Directory and Windows 7/10
  • Networking experience is highly desirable (Cisco knowledge preferred)
  • IP Telephony experience preferable
  • Wireless Networking experience advantageous
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Analytical approach to troubleshooting
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Proactivity and an inquisitive mind
  • Interest in continued learning
  • Integrity and strong work ethic
