North Shore is currently seeking an Intermediate Environmental Consultant for our Reclamation and Remediation Team, based out of Regina, Saskatchewan. Remote work agreements will also be considered for individuals based out of southeastern Saskatchewan.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reclamation and Remediation Programs:
- Coordinate and execute Phase 2 ESA’s, remediation and reclamation projects
- Develop and implement field plans for the above projects
- Compile various technical documents including Phase 2 ESA reports, remediation reports, and regulatory closure applications
- Coordinate and execute site visits, vegetation assessments, Detailed Site Assessments (DSAs), Landowner Acknowledgements Forms (LAFs), and Acknowledgement of Reclamation (AOR) documents
- Soil and Groundwater Monitoring Programs:
- Execute groundwater monitoring projects throughout Saskatchewan
- Execute soil monitoring and management programs on active oil & gas facilities
- Prepare technical reports associated with soil and groundwater projects
- Assist with the preparation of remediation action plans associated with contaminated sites
- Spill Remediation:
- Execute assessment and remediation activities associated with spill programs in multiple ecosite types (forested, agricultural, wetlands, open water bodies, etc.)
- Support client personnel with containment and recovery operations on select projects
- Prepare technical reports, plans and client documents
All programs require a strong ability to:
- Coordinate and supervise heavy equipment and other third-party contractors as required
- Collaborate with Project Managers with the oversight of client budgets, tracking project status, and making recommendations to progress sites towards regulatory closure
- Work closely with interdisciplinary groups (Technical Resource Group, Data Management Group, Spill Group, Biophysical Group, and Vegetation Group) to successfully execute client projects and programs
- Provide support to senior staff as required
- Work closely and develop relationships with landowners, client operations, government regulatory personnel, and other stakeholders
- Provide mentorship, support, and training to junior staff
- Implement corporate and client safety programs
- Ensure that project requirements are met in a timely and effective manner
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 to 9 years of consulting experience related to remediation, reclamation, or environmental science
- Technical Diploma or University Degree in environmental science or related discipline
- Experience with the utilization of the Saskatchewan upstream petroleum site soil remediation criteria
- Understanding and working knowledge of the upstream oil and gas regulatory requirements in Saskatchewan
- Experience in the execution and supervision of Phase 2 ESAs and remediation projects in Saskatchewan
- Strong vegetation identification and soil characterization skills
- Willingness to travel and be in the field as dictated by project requirements
- Excellent communication, organizational, computer, and problem-solving skills
- Technical report writing skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Good physical health and ability to work outdoors in varying conditions
- Self-motivated and have a willingness to succeed within a team environment
- Highly organized and have the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Valid driver's license
Preference will be given to candidates with three to nine years of directly related experience in the upstream oil and gas industry. Previous experience with managing various assessment, reclamation, and remediation projects will also be considered an asset. Compensation will be based upon candidate experience.
