We are looking for an individual with strong technical skills and a passion for data and GIS to join the Data Service and Analytics team as a Mapping Technician. As an important part of our team of data specialists, you will be responsible for maintaining and updating the datasets in our corporate spatial database and performing on-going data quality control. You will process data requests and provide technical advice to staff and external consultants while analyzing data and creating maps, drawings, plans, graphs, charts and other presentation products. You will also oversee the intake of as-built drawings and subdivisions into the GIS and operate and maintain GIS equipment such as large format printers and plotters.
The ideal candidate will have a GIS or Drafting Diploma, a high level of computer expertise and experience using GIS technology. This position requires a strong understanding of ESRI ArcGIS products and relational database design along with the ability to interpret survey data to create/update civil drawings. Experience with SQL programming, python scripting, and familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D will provide a competitive advantage. We are looking for an imaginative, proactive addition to our team, an individual who has strong communication skills, pays close attention to detail, and has a commitment to keeping current with new technologies and skill sets.
Pay Rate: Starts at $40.22 per hour with a 2-step progression to $42.87 per hour.
