The Case Worker, Facilitator will facilitate THRIVE, Fred Victor’s employment program designed specifically for the transgender and non-binary community.

The Community Services (CS) department at Fred Victor is a multi-service, multi-site entity that prioritizes the involvement of peers and individuals with lived experiences throughout its portfolio. It encompasses the 40 Oak Community HUB and community programs, Consumption and Treatment Services, Employment and Training Services, Drop-Ins and Warming and Cooling Centres, and Food Services. Additionally, it operates a social purpose enterprise with catering services and spearheads a significant peer training initiative.
Fred Victor Employment & Training Services provides front line job search information, resources, and services to persons experiencing barriers to employment through high quality, structured access to communication tools, workshops and individual assistance. The Case Worker, Facilitator will facilitate THRIVE, Fred Victor’s employment program designed specifically for the transgender and non-binary community. They will be responsible for providing relevant skills development programming and services to homeless and low-income adults in the transgender and non-binary community through high quality, structured groups/workshops, individual support, and referrals to other internal services.
Responsibilities:
- Direct, manage, coordinate, monitor and evaluate employment programming, suggesting changes for improvement.
- Ensure that services meet the needs of the community members, identify trends and gaps in service needs, develop work plans, and fulfill partnership agreements with funders and program partners, meeting established service targets.
- Develop and facilitate weekly workshops and employment drop-ins related to employment issues faced by the transgender and non-binary community.
- Organize and participate in community events such as Trans Pride Day, LGBTQ job fairs, Trans Remembrance Day, etc.
- In collaboration with the Employment Services team and other program facilitators, coordinate and implement programming that includes life skills and employment-related training, individual support, volunteer placements, and direct employment opportunities.
- Maintain and develop strong community partnerships.
- Support pre-employment service activities such as early resume development, community integration and life stabilization activities.
- Complete Common Assessment Tools with THRIVE clients to navigate them into Integrated Employment Services supports.
- Utilize Ministry and Service System Manager systems such as EOIS-CaMS, EOIS-Common Assessment, and FFAI.
- Conduct intake with new program participants.
- Support program participants in the goal setting process.
- Regularly check in with program participants to ensure they are meeting their individualized employment and training goals.
- Work closely with staff in Fred Victor’s Employment and Training Services department to ensure program participants receive the additional employment-related supports they need.
- Set up and take down program spaces.
- Manage conflict as it arises.
- Maintain up-to-date learning resources.
- Respond to emails, schedule appointments, and develop and maintain operational systems for efficient program administration.
- Ensure community members are regularly consulted in program design and evaluation processes.
- Develop, implement, maintain and evaluate marketing and outreach strategies to increase visibility of skills development and trans-friendly services.
- Other duties as required.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Graduate of a recognized post-secondary institution in a related field (preference is given to graduates of a Career Development, Social Services program and/or Mental Health/Addictions program).
- 2 years’ experience working in the field of career development and/or social services and/or demonstrated knowledge, skills and experiences related to client support.
- Lived experience within the transgender and non-binary community.
What Sets You Apart:
- Current knowledge of the employment and training field, particularly in relation to homeless and low-income people in the trans community.
- Understanding of issues of poverty and discrimination facing trans people with lived experience of homelessness, poverty, mental health, and/or addiction issues.
- Experience with EOIS-CaMS, POES and/or Pirouette/Roxy databases would be an asset.
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products is required.
- Knowledge of Ontario Works/ODSP and issues faced by individuals on Social Assistance.
- Self-motivation and strong organizational and record keeping skills.
- Excellent problem solving and conflict management skills.
- Knowledge of local issues and a broad network of personal and professional relationships within the community.
- Leadership skills and an advanced ability to demonstrate initiative while working under pressure.
- Ability to handle a wide range of responsibilities with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated experience in program implementation and program management.
- Previous experience developing workshop curriculum and individual assessment tools, establishing partnerships, and working with volunteers preferred.
- Ability to interact and communicate with a wide variety of people with diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills.
- Strong ability to work as part of a team.
Compensation and Benefits:
- For the Case Worker, Facilitator – THRIVE, Fred Victor offers a salary range of $25.09 per hour.
- 7% Vacation Pay.

Working Conditions:
Employee works in office area, with occasional travel to external sites. All employees must expect to be in potentially threatening situations on a constant basis. It is an emotionally challenging position and at times a physically demanding job.
