Marine Underwriter

Responsibilities

This position is open to multiple U.S. locations. Preferably near a U.S. HW Kaufman office location.

We are looking for candidates with an entrepreneurial spirit, drive for career advancement, and desire to develop relationships. The candidate will play a critical role in driving the growth and profitability of our ocean marine liability business. Interested? Join our team!

• Maintain and grow a book of ocean marine liability business including Hull/P&I, Primary Marine Liability, and Excess Marine Liability as part of the RB Jones Marine team.
• Manage and develop broker relationships.
• Produce new business as well as maintain a book of renewal business.
• Prequalify accounts and utilize underwriting acumen to select sound marine risks.
• Underwrite, rate, quote, and bind profitable new and renewal marine business to meet goals in agreement with underwriting guidelines and underwriting authority.
• Regular national travel as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 3 years of marine underwriting experience required.
• Wholesale, MGA or carrier experience preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency in sales and marketing.
• Proven organization skills and ability with a strong attention to detail.
• Interest in continued education and professional development.
• Insurance license, CPCU, CIC, AMIM or comparable designations preferred.
