The BlackBerry IoT Business Unit combines BlackBerry’s core IoT assets across the company. One of the groups within the IoT Business Unit is BlackBerry Radar, which is an innovative service for managing and optimizing fleet operations for businesses in the transportation sector. Solving our customers' most common transportation and logistics challenges, BlackBerry Radar can be used for tracking trailers, intermodal containers & chassis, equipment, railcars, and more.

All BlackBerry Radar tracking data is secured with BlackBerry encryption and authentication services; the devices are powered by BlackBerry QNX, our OS for embedded systems. BlackBerry Radar devices are rugged and low maintenance, equipped with batteries that can last as much as five years.

The BlackBerry Radar Cloud Services Development team is focused on developing asset tracking software services that will be used by businesses that rent or own railcars, chassis, trailers, and/or cargo carrying containers. The service allows customers to manage their Radar equipped fleet by providing location tracking, a host of rich sensor readings, alerts on meaningful events, analytics on their behavioral data, integration into other back-office systems such as transportation management systems, and much more.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Full Stack Developer with a strong emphasis on Back End development using Node.js / Express, with a focus on microservices architecture. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in building scalable web applications and a keen interest in contributing to both Front End and Server Side development. You will be responsible for designing and developing end-to-end applications hosted on AWS, while driving quality through testing and best practices. You will:

• Conduct Back End development using Node.js / Express, by being able to design and develop end-to-end, scalable web applications hosted on AWS services, using modern technologies and tools including Node.js, Serverless, NATS, Elasticsearch, MySQL, and Redis, implementing backend database schemas while leveraging the latest JavaScript features.
• Have interest and willingness to participate in Front End development by implementing user interfaces on React is desired.
• Write unit and integration tests to continually improve quality and ensure our ability to introduce features at a rapid pace.
• Lead technological initiatives and complex tasks while instilling development best practices.
• Own your code quality by writing tests, automations, and monitoring dashboards.
• Planning work using agile methodologies with Jira. Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, and work with microservices architecture, and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).

Skills and Qualifications:

• Required:
  • A degree in Computer Science or a related discipline or equivalent professional experience
  • Solid Back End development experience using Node.js / Express with a strong hands-on experience with modern database technologies, both SQL and NoSQL, such as MySQL, Elasticsearch, and Redis, along with proficiency in modeling data
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and tools, including Mocha, Chai, with a strong understanding of unit, integration, and end-to-end testing best practices.
  • Experience in building web applications, employing various testing-oriented and quality coding methodologies, with a focus on microservices architecture hosted on AWS, including knowledge of REST APIs and pub/sub messaging systems like NATS.
  • Experience using CI-CD/microservices architecture/containers (Docker/Swarm, Kubernetes).
  • Experience in designing complex system architectures.

• Desired:
  • Hands-on in Front End development using React.
