We are in search of a Buyer to work on our Kakbeka project. The Buyer role will be part of a high-performing project team that is dedicated to delivering this complex undertaking through collaboration and a best-for-project vision.

This role is based out of Kakabeka Falls, ON.

What will you be doing:
  • Initiate, issue and administer purchase orders through predetermined procedures;
  • Prepare bidders lists, bid packages and requests;
  • Receive and evaluate bids;
  • Prepare purchase recommendations;
  • Communicate with clients to secure approvals for purchase in accordance to established procedures;
  • Place orders and maintain all documents and controls to monitor suppliers' performance and conformance to commercial terms;
  • Interact with engineering and construction staff to monitor revisions and amendments, and assist at post award meetings to ensure understanding between client and suppliers on all contractual matters;
  • Support material receiving and inventory checks;
  • Administration of purchase orders including expediting of orders, reviewing of progress, invoice reviews and validations as well as entries and updates within the purchasing system.
What we are looking for:
  • 3-5+ years experience in procurement and/or supply chain
  • Working knowledge of procurement methods & procedures
  • Post secondary education in related field
  • Makes decisions and recommendations within authorized limits
  • Exercises independent judgment in selecting and interpreting information, handling deviations from standard methods and resolving difficulties.

The Buyer is expected to possess:

  • Strong work ethic, positive “ready to learn” attitude, attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience within a construction environment and knowledge of construction processes by which the works will be undertaken, is an asset
  • Able to work under pressure and to effectively multi-task
  • Dedicated team player with excellent interpersonal skills; Systems and Microsoft Office Suite skills.
