Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. As an integral member of our organization, the successful candidate will play a key role in the design and execution of electrical engineering projects, particularly within the oil and gas sector. The position requires a candidate with strong communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with expertise in medium and low voltage power distribution design, protective relaying, motor control systems, area classification specifications, electrical equipment sizing, and PLCs.

Key Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:

  1. Preparation of critical electrical documentation such as area classifications, fugitive emissions studies, single line diagrams, and load lists.
  2. Providing electrical input for detailed scope of work, design basis documents, and project execution plans.
  3. Developing electrical designs for projects or proposals.
  4. Establishing detailed engineering design criteria.
  5. Analyzing vendor or subcontractor designs for specific equipment.
  6. Reviewing the work of colleagues to ensure design consistency and integrity throughout the project.
  7. Verifying all discipline deliverables for accuracy.
  8. Leading the development of electrical material take-offs (MTOs) and labor estimates.
  9. Providing electrical input for Design Basis Memorandum (DBM), detailed scope of work, and Project Execution Plan (PEP) in coordination with other disciplines.
  10. Preparing engineering man-hour estimates and contributing to project schedules.
  11. Reviewing and/or creating electrical single line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  12. Developing and evaluating electrical equipment and construction specifications.
  13. Leading engineering procurement activities, including MRQ/MRP development, technical evaluation/recommendation, and vendor drawing approvals.
  14. Developing Construction Work Package, including project description, construction specifications, IFC drawings, and material lists.
  15. Offering engineering support during construction, including field engineering, inspection, and special studies.

Key Skills and Abilities
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Proficiency in medium and low voltage power distribution design is a must. Expertise in protective relaying, motor control systems, area classification specifications, electrical equipment sizing, and PLCs is required. Familiarity with electrical safety and adherence to code compliance requirements is essential.

Education & Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with an Electrical Engineering degree.
- 3 to 15 years of experience in electrical engineering within the oil and gas industry.
- EPCM background is a must.
- Experience in Oil & Gas facility projects, including heavy oil facilities, well tie-ins, pipelines, compressor stations, and field gas processing facilities.
- Familiarity with various electrical codes and standards (e.g., CSA, IEEE, API).
- Ability to coordinate with other engineering disciplines is required.
