Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Medical Physicist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective use of radiation in medical imaging and therapy. This position requires a strong understanding of physics principles as they apply to medicine, along with expertise in various imaging modalities and treatment techniques. The Medical Physicist works independently to provide medical physics support for the Radiation Oncology Department. In addition, provides medical physics support to Medical Imaging and other departments that utilize radiation producing equipment or radioactive material.
Conduct monthly quality assurance tests on medical imaging equipment, including CT and mammography machines, to ensure optimal performance.
Collaborate with radiation oncologists to develop treatment plans for patients undergoing radiation therapy.
Provide expert consultation on the safe use of radiation in clinical settings, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Utilize knowledge of anatomy and physiology to assist in the interpretation of imaging results and treatment efficacy.
Educate staff on medical terminology, critical care practices, and acute care procedures as they relate to radiation safety.
Stay current with advancements in medical physics, imaging technologies, and treatment methodologies.
Qualifications
M.S. in Radiological Sciences/Medical Physics.
Board certification in Therapeutic Radiological Physics by the American Board of Radiology.
Professional License in Therapeutic Radiological Physics by the New York State Education Department.
An understanding of radiation physics, medical physics, radiobiology, accelerators, simulators, brachytherapy equipment, treatment planning systems and radiation safety.
Minimum of three years of Medical Physicist experience.
