Reporting to the Manager of Inuit Qaujisarvingat, the Advisor, Research Partnerships, works closely with ITK leadership, staff, and external partners to establish and support the development and implementation of key strategic priorities for the advancement of research efforts at ITK.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
REPRESENTATION AND RELATIONSHIPS
Develops and maintains relationships with stakeholders and external partners regarding the advancement of Inuit self-determination in research
Monitors existing relationships and conducts needs assessments for partnership arrangements
Works with the ITK program area leads, Inuit treaty organizations, and external partners for advancement of research governance, including funding arrangements, and identification of research programmatic needs
Represent ITK in key partnership activities, as directed
Procure and manage external consultants, as required
POLICY AND PROGRAMS
Monitor, identify and assess policies on research and science impacting Inuit Nunangat at the community, regional, national and international levels
Develop and support policies and programs for effectively managing research partnerships
Conduct knowledge mobilization efforts in support of Inuit policy positions
Oversee implementation of monitoring, evaluation, and learning plans for research partnerships and programs
Advise on research administrative processes
COMMUNICATION
Makes presentations to partners, working groups, ITK leadership, and ITK Board of Directors as required
Provides regular updates and recommendations on ITK’s research partnerships
Maintains working relationships with external partners
Drafts and produces business cases, reports, studies and other documents as required.
ADMINISTRATIVE
Establishes and maintains research program plans and records
Compiles, maintains and presents regularly on research partnerships and programs activities for incorporation into relevant policy and program area
Identifies and makes recommendations on budgetary and operational requirements for research partnerships and programs
QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Strategic and analytical thinker
Knowledge and understanding of Inuit regional and community priorities, and Inuit Nunangat
Awareness of science and research policy
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills (primarily in English; Inuktitut and/or French an asset)

EXPERIENCE
Minimum of five years’ experience in Policy and/or Research fields, or equivalent combination of education and experience
