About the Role

The SFU School of Medicine is seeking a visionary Director of Operations to oversee the daily operations and drive the strategic goals of the School. This role is vital in ensuring operational efficiency, productivity, and alignment with the School’s values, mission, and vision. The Director will lead the development and implementation of standardized procedures, key performance indicators (KPIs), and best practices, while fostering a culture of inclusion and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities include managing the administrative workforce, mentoring staff, and leading change initiatives to enhance service delivery and operational performance. The Director will work closely with senior leaders, faculty, and external stakeholders to support strategic initiatives and optimize processes.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have an MBA or PMP certification, over ten years of senior leadership experience, strong expertise in operational management, and a proven ability to lead cross-functional teams through complex changes.

  1. Extensive knowledge of multiple operational functions and principles, including finance, customer service, and employee management.
  2. Proven ability to plan and manage operational processes to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  3. Demonstrated ability to streamline or implement structures and roles that support operational efficiency.
  4. Experience in developing and executing business plans.
  5. Strong working knowledge of data analysis and performance metrics.
  6. Proficiency in business management software, such as SAP, ERP and CRM.

The pay range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary for the position. The midpoint of the range is approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum and represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications and experience for the position. In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the pay range.
