NURSE PRACTITIONER (NP) / NURSING SUPERVISOR (NS)
The Agency: Located in Timmins ON, Jubilee Centre (CJC) is a highly specialized recovery-oriented Addiction & Mental Health Treatment Centre offering high intensity, medically supported MH Crisis & WMS, Treatment & Rehabilitation Services, Primary Care, temporary housing and supports together in an integrated modified therapeutic community environment.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and energetic individual to fill the leadership position of Nurse Practitioner (NP)/Nursing Supervisor (NS). Reporting to the Clinical Director, and in close collaboration with the Leadership Team, Physicians, Psychiatrists, and system partners, the NP/NS will:
- Provide direct supervision to a small front-line nursing team.
- Lead planning and implementation of innovative, integrated Nursing and medically supported services to increase capacity, access, quality, and availability of specialized behavioral health services and primary care.
Summary of Qualifications:
- Is a registered CNO member in good standing in the Extended Class, RN(EC), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or candidate to the profession (NP license pending).
- Is a registered member in good standing with a Nursing regulatory body in another Canadian jurisdiction in the Extended Class, RN (EC), Nurse Practitioner (NP).
- CNA certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing - preferred.
- Two years experience in delivery of primary care and mental health/addictions preferred.
- Certificate in Controlled Drugs and Substances: Essential Management and Prescribing Practices preferred.
- Certificate/Training in prescribing: OAT/ORT and anti-craving therapies preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in supervising, mentoring, teaching, and evaluating front-line staff.
- Experience in policy development, program planning and evaluation preferred.
- Experience working effectively with diverse communities/marginalized individuals who face barriers accessing services and experience in approaching work from an equity lens.
- Demonstrated experience working in a community-based Addiction & Mental Health setting; emphasis on Opioid/Alcohol Withdrawal Management/Harm Reduction, Treatment and Recovery preferred.
- Demonstrated excellent problem-solving, organizational and interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively and respectfully in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team environment.
- Current liability protection under NPAO (or independently) required.
- Heightened sensitivity to the needs of people with addiction and/or mental health challenges and a passion for working with the target population.
- Excellent clinical skills and sound clinical judgment coupled with excellent organizational and communication (written and oral) skills.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, team-building skills, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Proficient in the use of IT systems and computers for word processing, email and data entry (Outlook, Excel, EHR).
- Experience and ease with OTN and providing virtual care preferred.
- Flexibility, tolerance for ambiguity, and a good sense of humour are essential for this position.
- Ability to effectively communicate in both official languages preferred.
- Indigenous cultural competency and ability to incorporate traditional Indigenous healing approaches and language preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation with appropriate insurance coverage.
- Ability and willingness to do some additional work as required by the employer including alternating on-call duty.
All other factors being equal, preference may be given to the following candidates:
- Persons identifying as Indigenous, First Nation or Métis and have a solid working knowledge of traditional healing practices.
- Persons who have a working knowledge of Cree, Ojibway, or Oji-Cree languages.
- Persons who are fluently bilingual in French and English.
- Persons who have lived experience with mental health and/or substance use disorders and have been enjoying life in the maintenance stage of uninterrupted recovery for 2 years or more.
Wages, Hours of Work, Benefits and Other:
Salary: $115,300 to $125,000/yr. Hours of work: 40 hrs/week (incl. 1 hr. paid meal period). Benefits: Competitive vacation entitlement based on years of service, 12 statutory holidays/yr., 12 paid floater days/yr., up to 20 paid sick leave days/yr. Comprehensive benefits package including: extended health care, vision care, prescription drugs, dental, life insurance, group pension plan, and reimbursement of annual CNO licensing and NPAO membership fees.
Other: Signing/retention bonus of up to 40K and reimbursement of relocation costs. Possibility of job share for candidates wanting part-time employment. Certain conditions apply.
