Software Engineers Needed for a Great Employer

Our client is a successful mid-size software company which fosters an amazing work environment and is located in the heart of downtown Toronto. They have engaged ROSS (www.getROSS.com) to help them recruit a number of Software Engineers. ROSS is a team of People Specialists helping companies align their People Strategy with their business growth. We provide remote or onsite HR and Recruitment solutions such as Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO) and Recruitment Augmentation.

Our client is looking for a smart, enthusiastic person with a passion for software engineering and an interest in creating web software. If you love working in an open, highly collaborative environment making awesome software, then our client is the place for you!

As a member of one of our client’s agile development teams, you'll work side by side with product owners, SCRUM masters, test engineers, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

1. Creating software on our client’s SaaS platform, from inception to release. Writing loads of code!
2. Practicing agile development (SCRUM, XP) and Test Driven Development (TDD)
3. Communicating with product owners and other stakeholders
4. Working closely with energetic, experienced developers, the Director of Software Engineering, and the CTO

Qualifications:

1. Comfortable coding in your high level language of choice: Python, Java, JavaScript, or whatever you fancy. Our client code primarily in Java and Python
2. Strong knowledge of relational databases and SQL
3. At least 3 years working as part of a software development team. Our client has openings for junior and senior developers; their agile teams adapt to your experience level
4. Very strong communication skills
5. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or an equivalent

Nice to Haves:

1. Experience with agile development
2. Experience developing complex multi-tier software systems with JEE web application servers
3. Deep understanding of refactoring and design patterns
4. Knowledge of UX design, JQuery, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
5. Mastery of your favorite IDE and a wizard at debugging
6. Exposure to Tornado, Pyramid, Django, Flask or Lift
7. Experience with NoSQL databases
8. Familiar with large scale frameworks for big data like Hadoop, Pig, Zookeeper
