Janitor

Under general supervision, the Janitor performs routine cleaning duties in the Authority's buildings and general grounds. Duties include cleaning floors, washing walls and windows, and removing trash.

Responsibilities:

• Sweeps, mops, and scrubs offices, stairs, and bathrooms
• Empties waste paper baskets and trash containers
• Ensures that there is an adequate supply of drinking water for office personnel
• May secure office at closing time
• Operates janitorial equipment and tools

Qualifications:

• Good knowledge of English, spelling, and arithmetic
• Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry objects
• Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions
• Ability to read and write legibly
• Ability to plan work and carry through to completion without close supervision
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with the general public
• High degree of initiative and dependability

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma, or equivalent, and two (2) years of experience in custodial work.
