About the Role

On behalf of our client in the Banking industry, Astek Canada is seeking a motivated Security Specialist ready to take on new challenges.

Your Responsibilities

As a Security Specialist, you will be responsible for:

1. Understanding architecture diagrams and providing input into application design.
2. Performing systems administration: monitor, configure, back-up, authenticate, tune, maintain, install, script, monitor applications, services, and systems.
3. Scripting installs and standing up infrastructure in both private/public Cloud.
4. Identifying issues, developing, and maintaining processes that address and resolve them, while communicating/alerting stakeholders as needed.
5. Designing, implementing, and maintaining an automated build and install/deploy process; developing and maintaining build scripts of projects and/or products.
6. Performing Release Engineering functions for either cloud or non-cloud services, products, and platforms.
7. Providing specialized support (like research, installation, configuration, L3 support) and meeting or exceeding established standards/service levels while minimizing operational risk.
8. Designing, reviewing, and integrating infrastructure and application requirements (non-functional, security, integration, performance, quality, operations, etc.).
9. Building/deploying base infrastructure components (e.g. Azure capabilities including Virtual Machines, ASE, AKS, Blob storage, geo-replication, etc.) and application services for all environments.
10. Maintaining base infrastructure components, working with vendors (Azure) to report problems, and receiving fixes.
11. Creating and documenting disaster and business recovery plans and procedures.

Your Qualifications

Education / Experience:

1. Diplomas/certificates or undergraduate degree or technical certificate.
2. 5 to 10 years' relevant experience.

Key Skills:

1. Windows administration and PowerShell experience.
2. Database experience, maintaining and managing MsSQL databases (SSRS/SSIS).
3. Cloud experience e.g., Azure Services including IaaS, IaC.
4. Configuration management tools e.g., SALT, Terraform, Ansible, or CHEF.
5. Development/Engineering experience e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Shell, Python.
6. Excellent problem-solving skills, engineering mindset (must be able to demonstrate this in interviews).
7. Experience with Jenkins, GitHub, Bitbucket, Nexus or similar toolsets.
8. Nice to have: Linux.
9. High-Performance Computing clusters (e.g., HPC Pack).
10. Experience with AutoSys, ServiceNow, JIRA, Confluence.
11. Experience with Databricks, Blob, Event Hub.
