Horticultural Watering Attendant

City of Delta
British Columbia
CAD 30,000 - 60,000
Job description

Temporary Full-Time Seasonal Opportunities Available

The City of Delta is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our Parks Outside Operations team, serving the three communities of Ladner, North Delta, and Tsawwassen. If you have a passion for horticulture and/or arboriculture, we offer exciting opportunities and challenges in a dynamic work environment.

We are looking for reliable, self-motivated, and adaptable team players who are willing to work flexible shifts and operate the City’s watering truck. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating the watering truck, watering hanging baskets and city trees. The position requires the ability to work independently and efficiently, with minimal supervision. Your duties will include both manual and semi-skilled tasks, with occasional assistance in the maintenance of landscaped and horticultural areas when necessary.

The position demands good physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Strong customer service skills are essential, as you will be expected to communicate professionally, tactfully, and diplomatically with the public.

Qualifications:

  • A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence with a clean driving record is required. Familiarity with driving pickup trucks or larger vehicles is essential, and towing experience is an asset.
  • Candidates must submit a current Driver’s Abstract, showing five years of driving history, along with their application. Applications submitted without this document will be considered incomplete and will not be reviewed.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with training or courses related to horticulture or arboriculture.

The successful candidate must be available to work a non-standard work schedule, including early mornings (starting at 4:00 am) and weekends. Work hours may be adjusted based on seasonal and operational needs.

At the City of Delta, we are committed to recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce that is representative of our community, providing equal opportunity and fostering an inclusive workplace where our individual differences are recognized, valued and celebrated.

Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis, and hiring will take place throughout the posting period.
