Job Purpose
Responsible for investigating disputes between workers and coordinating grievance procedures to handle employee complaints and concerns.
Duties and Responsibilities
The associate’s primary functions and responsibilities are as follows:
- Investigate and evaluate complaints or arguments to determine viability.
- Schedule or coordinate the details of grievance hearings or other meetings.
- Manage one-on-one meetings with employees.
- Monitor company or workforce adherence to labour legislation.
- Advise the Employee Relations Manager on matters related to administration, employee discipline, or grievance procedures.
- Develop methods to monitor employee satisfaction with policies or working conditions, including grievance or complaint procedures.
- Manage the suggestion and communication of feedback.
- Follow up on disciplined employees and review progress and feelings related to the matter.
- Assist in the creation of policies relating to employee sensitivity.
- Assist in the training of managers and supervisors on the sensitivity perspective of employee matters.
- Perform weekly floor walks to engage and communicate with employees.
- Monitor action plans and communicate back to employees.
- Perform other assigned duties.
- Follow Health and Safety rules and regulations.
- Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety, and Food Defense guidelines.
- Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Degree in Human Resource, Labour Relations, or Conflict Resolution.
- Knowledge of the Labour Relations Act, the negotiating process, applicable sections of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Employment Standards Act, related statutes and case law.
- Understanding of Labour Relations Board procedures and processes.
- Ability to gain and maintain the respect and confidence of parties in an often-hostile atmosphere.
- Skilled in problem solving and able to develop innovative approaches to complex labour relations or employment issues.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills.
- Pay close attention to details.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
