The successful candidate will assume the role of Plumber located in our Acheson, Alberta office. This position will report to the Trades Manager.
Responsibilities:
Install plumbing systems in commercial buildings, including piping, fixtures, valves, and appliances, ensuring compliance with building codes and blueprints.
Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to plan the layout of plumbing systems, ensuring efficient use of space and optimal functionality.
Cut, thread, bend, and assemble pipes and fittings using hand and power tools, ensuring proper alignment and connection for water, gas, and drainage systems.
Diagnose and repair plumbing issues such as leaks, clogs, and malfunctioning fixtures, utilizing diagnostic tools and techniques to identify problems efficiently.
Conduct pressure tests and inspections to ensure the integrity and functionality of plumbing systems, making necessary adjustments or repairs as needed.
Coordinate with other construction trades, such as electricians and HVAC technicians, to ensure proper installation and integration of plumbing systems within the overall construction project.
Adhere to safety protocols and regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and following established procedures to minimize risks of accidents and injuries on the job site.
Estimate material quantities needed for projects, order supplies, and maintain inventory to ensure availability of necessary materials for plumbing installations and repairs.
Keep accurate records of work performed, including diagrams, measurements, and material usage, to maintain project documentation and assist with future maintenance or renovations.
Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and project managers to address concerns, provide updates on project progress, and ensure client satisfaction with plumbing installations and repairs.
Stay informed about local building codes, regulations, and industry standards related to plumbing installations, ensuring compliance with all applicable requirements throughout the construction process.
Minimum Requirements:
5+ years’ experience in Plumbing & Gas Fitting
Red Seal JOURNEYMAN Plumber/Gas Fitter tickets
Able to lift 50 pounds
Comfortable working inside the office, the shop or outside in the yard or on site.
Ability to work well under pressure, effectively multi-task and prioritize.
Safety conscientious at all times with a clean safety record.
Strong organizational skills are a necessity.
Self-sufficient, able to work with little-to-no direct supervision.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driver abstract.
CSTS, OSSA, would be an asset.
Ability to pass Drug & Alcohol test to work on site.
Ability to work out of town if required.
Site work/day trips may be required.
May be required to operate a fleet vehicle for business purposes.
Must be able to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis.
Prolonged standing and frequent bending, stooping, and reaching on a daily basis.
Requires a full range of physical motion in order to operate manual and electrically powered tools and plumbing equipment.
Work is performed indoors and out-of-doors, occasionally in environments that are dusty, noisy, or which could have work hazards.
Some travel to various sites may be required.
