We are excited to announce a new opportunity here at the TTC. The Project Manager, Special Events (FIFA World Cup 2026) is responsible for coordinating all TTC activities to support the planning and execution of FIFA World Cup 2026 matches, festivities, and ensuring travel resiliency.
What You Will Do
- You will provide coordination of all TTC activities to support the planning and execution of TTC’s support of FIFA World Cup 2026 matches, festivities and background travel resiliency.
- Assist in establishing the overall TTC service plan for delivering spectator and visitor travel for the tournament including service requirements and crewing, supervision and customer service staffing, customer experience including wayfinding, etc.
- Detailing operational and resource requirements to inform the TTC’s budgetary needs for the tournament period.
- You will work with TTC’s operations and emergency management teams to develop plans to respond to one-day or unexpected events during the tournament period (road closures, special events, emergency responses, etc.).
- Assist with communications and procedures between Transit Control and City and Provincial operations centers during the tournament.
- You will participate in developing and reviewing plans for traffic management, transit facilities design and passenger flow management and coordinating participation by various TTC departments and groups.
- Establish effective collaboration with front-line employees, the City of Toronto FIFA World Cup Secretariat, the FIFA World Cup 2026 Organizing Committee, City of Toronto departments, Metrolinx/GO Transit, and other regional transit agencies.
- Participate in extensive planning/coordination meetings to ensure seamless delivery of TTC services during the tournament.
- Assist in executing the plans during the tournament and assurance of TTC’s service and customer experience plan.
- As Project Manager, Special Events (FIFA World Cup 2026) you will provide clear and direct guidance to employees as well as effectively motivate and coordinate their efforts towards maintaining the efficient flow of the tournament attendees and visitors using the TTC.
- Leading post-tournament reporting, lessons learned, and close-out activities.
- Responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (if applicable and within their area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service provider and an employer.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?
- Your educational background including a college Diploma or University Degree in Business Administration or related discipline; or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent is integral and will contribute to the success in this role.
- Experience in transit planning, transit operations, customer service and special events will be a strong asset.
- Your application will demonstrate sound knowledge of TTC’s transportation operating policies and procedures combined with a comprehensive knowledge of policies and practices of other related agencies, particularly in the delivery of special events and emergency planning.
- Must be well versed in the use of spreadsheet and other desktop applications related to the work; possess sound judgement, well-developed analytical, problem solving, organizational, interpersonal, oral communication and report writing skills; and have demonstrated ability to coordinate the efforts of others to accomplish objectives.
- Your application will also demonstrate superior oral communication and writing skills; good public speaking and presentation skills; excellent administrative and investigative skills.
- Must have or acquire knowledge of department specific procedures and processes, combined with the TTCs organizational structure, policies and procedures applicable to the work performed.
- Your application will demonstrate project management experience and demonstrated experience in budgeting and cost control.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Designation is considered an asset.
- Your proven ability to manage high-profile projects including ability to identify, manage and mitigate risks and issues is required.
- Analytical skills to develop efficient and effective approaches to deliver a seamless customer journey and experience is required.
- Your application will demonstrate collaboration skills to build productive internal and external relationships.
- Your proven ability to communicate effectively to varied audiences including colleagues, executives and elected officials is required.
- Understanding of the organization's fiscal environment to guide decision making and recommendations is required.
