Job Title: Mill Maintenance Electrical & Instrumentation Supervisor

The Greenstone Mine commenced production in May 2024 and will be one of Canada’s largest open-pit gold mines, with annual production expected to average nearly 400,000 ounces of gold per year for an initial 14-year mine life with additional potential from a large underground deposit. Greenstone Gold Mines LP is owned by Equinox Gold Corp, a Vancouver-based mining company with seven other operating mines in the United States, Mexico and Brazil.

Greenstone Mine is seeking a Mill Maintenance Electrical & Instrumentation Supervisor to join our team. Reporting to the Mill Maintenance Superintendent, the Mill Maintenance Electrical & Instrumentation Supervisor is responsible for supervising the day-to-day activities of the Mill Maintenance Electrical & Instrumentation team, ensuring Health and Safety, production and quality requirements are within established guidelines. As well as collaborating with all other departments as a team to achieve set out budgeted targets for Health and Safety, cost, and production.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

  1. Ensure all Electrical & Instrumentation work is done in a safe and environmentally sound manner.
  2. Maintain compliance with corporate, governmental and site environmental and safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Create awareness of unsafe and/or environmentally harmful behavior.
  3. Provide the leadership and direction necessary to ensure the operating integrity of the Mill staying within the requirements of budgeted costs, production and planned targets.
  4. Effectively communicate and coordinate Electrical & Instrumentation activities with Operations departments to support construction, training and mill start up.
  5. Set priorities and execute the safe and efficient deployment of personnel and equipment in all Electrical & Instrumentation activities.
  6. Interpret specifications, drawings, manuals and work orders to subordinates and assign duties.
  7. Assist the maintenance planners with planning of specific tasks throughout the area of responsibility.
  8. Assist in diagnosing Electrical & Instrumentation malfunctions in all site equipment.
  9. Assist in budget development, cost analysis and contract administration.
  10. Regularly tour and inspect work areas to identify and address any health and safety, environmental, production, equipment, and employee issues.
  11. Collaborate with the Mill Operations team, Mechanical team, and Contractors to efficiently execute site projects.
  12. Engage and lead the Electrical & Instrumentation team in a Zero Harm, open communication, and continuous improvement culture.
  13. Ensure employees have a clear understanding of work objectives and expectations of performance levels.
  14. Ensure that direct reports are provided with the training required for their current tasks and future needs.
  15. Ensure all incidents are reported, adequately investigated, and documented in a timely manner.
  16. Collaborate with HR for Employee Relations & Investigations.
  17. Provide assistance to the HR team and ownership in the hiring of Mill Maintenance employees.
  18. Manage and enter leave and exceptions reporting & updating rosters.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  1. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook Access) along with knowledge of PLC and SCADA programming being an asset.
  2. Familiarity with computerized maintenance systems such as SAP is essential.
  3. Solid understanding and experience of mineral processing practices and equipment capabilities an asset.
  4. Must have knowledge and understanding of safe and efficient electrical practices, procedures, and regulations.
  5. Good understanding and working knowledge of the applicable legislation and regulations for mines.
  6. Well-developed planning, problem solving, decision making, interpersonal, communication and organization skills.
  7. Work in a team environment to meet deadlines.
  8. Positive attitude and commitment to safety.

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION

  1. 5+ years of experience in a mineral processing plant.
  2. Possess an electrical trade qualification with experience as a supervisor in mill Electrical & Instrumentation or related industry with dual ticket in electrical and instrumentation being an asset or a B.S in Electrical Engineering with relevant field experience.
  3. Experience with computerized maintenance management systems such as Oracle or JD Edwards is necessary with SAP being the preferred type of such system.

LOCATION

  1. This position will be based in Geraldton, Ontario on a 7/7 rotation.
