Summary

The Registered Charity, BullyingCanada Inc. (BCI) is seeking a Director of Philanthropy to join our national team and drive fundraising revenue nationally through mid-level and major gifts fundraising.


Description

Founded in 2006, BullyingCanada is a free bilingual donor-funded 24/7/365 national support service that stands by bullied children and youth until we find a way to bring an end to their being bullied, a process that typically takes between 2 weeks to a year. We are looking for a mission-driven, results-oriented and experienced Director of Philanthropy who is passionate about finding new individual, corporate and foundation donors to support BCI and taking individual, corporate giving & foundation giving to the next level.


Responsibilities

  1. Work in collaboration with our Administration Manager and Executive Director to develop and execute short-term and long-term development goals ensuring increased revenue year-over-year.
  2. Focus 100% on identifying and securing new donors for BullyingCanada, including foundations, individuals, and grants. This role requires proactive outreach, networking, and research to discover new funding sources, rather than relying on existing donors. If you excel at making new connections and sourcing fresh opportunities, this position is for you.
  3. Strengthen and expand revenue development opportunities with existing donors through cultivation and implementation of strategies.
  4. Recruit new corporate and foundation donors and develop customized stewardship strategies.
  5. Ensure all fundraising initiatives and donor cultivation are in keeping with relevant Foundation policies and practices.
  6. Assist in recruiting, engaging and retaining qualified employees to meet organization priorities.
  7. Provide weekly update (or as needed) reports, on fund development status updates and goals to Administration Manager and/or Executive Director.
  8. Develop prospect solicitation strategies and proposals.
  9. Develop, monitor, and manage grant and foundation applications with the Administration Manager & the Executive Director.
  10. Develop, build and support relationships with current and potential funders, including applications for funding, stewardship agreements, and reporting.
  11. Write reports, proposals, and correspondence on issues related to grants and foundations.
  12. Research and seek out new opportunities to apply for grants and foundations that will generate revenue for BullyingCanada.
  13. Experience in leveraging AI tools to generate comprehensive reports and documents related to fundraising and fund development activities.
  14. Other duties as assigned.

Skill Set

  1. Demonstrate strong self-discipline and self-motivation in a remote work environment, managing tasks independently without constant supervision. Flexibility to step away from your desk for short periods, ensuring timely return to maintain productivity and meet deadlines.
  2. Post-secondary education in business or fundraising, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  3. Proven background in leading fundraising campaigns with revenue targets of $100k+.
  4. 5-7 years of experience in a fundraising/management role in the not-for-profit or charitable sectors.
  5. Proven ability to take initiative and carry projects to completion with minimal supervision.
  6. Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to coordinate multiple projects within tightly prescribed timelines.
  7. Superior communication abilities with a persuasive writing style and strong verbal skills in English with equally strong presentation and editing skills.
  8. The ability to convey compelling stories and messages that are tailored to unique stakeholder groups.
  9. Ability to manage multiple projects with various timelines and handle competing and changing priorities.
  10. Proactive problem solver, solution oriented, displays sound decision-making and judgment.
  11. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  12. Demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness, and creativity.
  13. Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  14. Experience with relational databases.
  15. Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  16. High energy, enthusiastic and passionate about fundraising.

Assets:

Fluency in French; CFRE designation (or working towards).


Work Environment:

This is a commission-based position (upon successful grant applications) with the potential of becoming a salary-based position after a 6-month probation period. Fully-Remote Position:

  1. Full-Time (40 hours per week).
  2. 1 Year Contract with possible extension (NOTE: There is a 6-month probation period).
  3. Paid 1 hour lunch break.
  4. Employee Benefits (Drug, Vision, Medical, EAP, etc.) - 100% coverage, paid by the employer.
  5. Paid Day Off on your Birthday!
  6. 20 paid vacation days, paid personal days, paid sick days, paid mental health days, time off during Holiday Season.
  7. Monthly KCup Budget (We must keep everyone awake somehow!).
  8. Ability to work flexible hours (Office Hours are Mon-Thurs 8-5 Atlantic, Off on Friday); some evening and weekend work may be required.
  9. Ability to travel if required (expenses to be reimbursed).
  10. Valid driver’s license is an asset, not a requirement.
  11. Office Budget.
  12. Potential access to co-working space for a set number of hours per week/month, if desired.

Please note: A Criminal Record Check, and “Vulnerable Person Sector Criminal Reference Check” must be completed if you are selected (at no cost to the employee).


Since this is a work from home role, candidates must have access to:

  1. stable High Speed Internet access.
  2. a workspace that supports confidentiality and minimizes distractions.

BullyingCanada will supply you with:

  1. a laptop.
  2. a VoIP Telephone (It is preferred that the telephone be connected directly to the router so an Ethernet cord will be supplied).
