Lonsdale Energy Corporation is seeking a strategic and collaborative Senior Project Manager who is passionate about the environment to lead key projects over the next three years. Your work will play a crucial role in helping the corporation achieve its ambitious environmental targets while expanding our award-winning community energy system.

Since 2003, Lonsdale Energy has been operating an award-winning community energy system located in the City of North Vancouver. The corporation provides heating and cooling services to residents, businesses, and municipal facilities within the city.

Under the general direction of the Deputy Director, this position facilitates all aspects of design, construction, and project management of Lonsdale Energy's low-carbon energy projects. This includes preparing selection criteria and evaluating consultant and contractor proposals, coordinating and preparing reports, tender documents, and contracts for projects to ensure they are completed on time and on budget.

As a Senior Project Manager, you will act as a liaison and coordinator between Lonsdale Energy, consultants, construction firms, and other interested, affected, or relevant parties to ensure desired results. Duties may include:

  1. Preparing project schedules and budgets.
  2. Attending project committee meetings as a resource person.
  3. Presenting to board and city council.
  4. Reviewing and soliciting reviews of plans and working drawings at various stages for conformance to project guidelines and established standards.
  5. Preparing and maintaining various materials such as records, technical and status reports, correspondence, and project specifications.
  6. Reviewing all invoices, change orders, and other payment claims for accuracy, investigating discrepancies, and recommending approval or other actions to your manager.

The Senior Project Manager will oversee the delivery (detailed design and construction) of the Sewer Heat Recovery energy centre and associated distribution infrastructure. With the help of the consultant teams, you will ensure that all work performed follows contractual terms and established regulations; you will arbitrate disputes regarding contract interpretations, construction practices, standards, and methods, review and advise on proposed changes, and monitor and assess construction progress. You will oversee the development and implementation of sustainable design criteria, construction and drawing standards, and adherence to OHS policy and training. You will supervise the work of contractors and consultants, building and maintaining effective relationships with the public and internal and external contacts.

You have a degree in a related discipline (e.g., Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, etc.), a professional designation (e.g., P.Eng), and 7 - 12 years of progressive experience managing complex medium-sized building construction projects or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Municipal experience, experience working with district energy, and project management professional designation (PMP) are preferred. Proven communication and collaboration skills are essential in this role, along with strong organizational skills, experience in contract management, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects of varying size and complexity. A valid Class 5 BC Driver's License is also required.

During the recruitment process, applicants will be requested to provide a current Police Information Check (PIC).

Through the City of North Vancouver, Lonsdale Energy offers an attractive remuneration package for this temporary exempt position, including a compressed work schedule and a 35-hour work week. The salary range is $119,964 to $141,132 annually (*Salary is currently under review) (2024 rates). Salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience, and internal parity.
