The Opportunity

Are you an operator with oil and gas experience? Vermilion Energy has an exciting opportunity for a contract Production Operator in our Deep basin assets located in Drayton Valley, Alberta. If you’re looking to join a team that values its people and provides work with purpose, we want to hear from you!

Reporting to the Area Foreman, you will operate, monitor, and test oil/gas wells as per Vermilion and regulatory guidelines and requirements. Using your proven success in your flexibility and adaptability to change, you will assist with operational and engineering strategies to optimize production.

What You Will Do

  1. Inspect and adjust assigned wells; provide routine maintenance to ensure safe and efficient operations
  2. Identify hazards and complete reporting and corrective action as required
  3. Optimize and troubleshoot daily well production; propose innovative strategies on how to improve well productivity
  4. Facilitate the daily production input and balancing of well data
  5. Test the measurement of gas, condensate/oil and water production on a daily basis

What You Will Bring

  1. 5+ years of relevant industry experience as a production operator
  2. Demonstrated commitment to health, safety, and environment expectations and requirements
  3. You will be required to reside within a maximum of 120 km of your work location
  4. A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  5. Formal operational and safety training including: First Aid/CPR, H2S Alive, TDG/WHMIS
  6. Software experience in field data capture (Prodview), and electronic flow measurement systems

Location and other Key Details

  1. You will work at our Drayton Valley, Alberta operations site
  2. The shift schedule is a 8 days on/6 days off rotation (10-hour shifts)
  3. This position is safety sensitive
  4. This is a contract position
