As Deputy Minister, you will lead the Department of Health and Social Services, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, accessible, and culturally responsive services for all residents. Reporting directly to the Minister of Health and Social Services, you will oversee policy development, system transformation, and stakeholder engagement while navigating complex challenges and driving innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the department in delivering impactful health and social services
- Advise senior government leaders and stakeholders
- Support service transformation with the NWT Health and Social Services Authority
- Address legislative priorities, including mental health, senior care, and community wellness
- Foster partnerships with Indigenous communities, governments, and organizations
Ideal Candidate:
- Senior leadership experience in healthcare or social service
- Proven ability to drive collaboration in complex environments
- Strong relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders
- Strategic thinker with fiscal expertise and sound decision-making
- Experience with rural, remote, and Indigenous communities
Qualifications:
- A master’s degree in public administration, health policy, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Extensive senior leadership experience in government, healthcare, social services, or related sectors
- Strong understanding of Northern and Indigenous community needs and culturally appropriate service delivery
- Proven experience managing large-scale budgets, policy development, and systems
