Are you ready to lead the payroll and benefits function for a well-established but entrepreneurial-minded company? As the Manager of Payroll and Benefits, you will administer the overall payroll and benefit program for employees at Trail Appliances.

This role will bring you in contact with the amazing employees at Trail Appliances, delivering the critical payroll function. You will embrace challenges, learn from every opportunity, and relentlessly pursue excellence.

As the Manager of Payroll and Benefits, you will:
  • Be responsible for managing the payroll and benefits function.
  • Coach, mentor, and lead the Payroll Specialist.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll and year-end payroll for salaried, hourly, and commission-based employees in a timely and accurate manner using ADP Workforce Now.
  • Administer the employee Group Benefit Plan including initial set-up for new hires, employee record maintenance, and status changes.
  • Reconcile recurring payroll and benefit accounts and statements (general payroll and Receiver General remittances, WorkSafe remittances, EHT, and extended health/dental, Life, LTD insurance statements).
  • Develop and maintain sound cross-functional relationships across the business.
  • Be responsible for the maintenance of the Vacation and Sick Days program.
  • Work with Department Managers on ad-hoc payroll reporting and management training on Advanced Tracker.
  • Provide high-end customer service to managers and employees regarding their pay and benefits queries.
  • Review existing payroll processes and systems, recommending updates and improvements as required.
  • Prepare payroll accrual journal entries and GL reconciliations at month-end.
To be successful in this role, you need:
  • 3+ years of experience in a Payroll & Benefits management role.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Experience with creating process improvement and efficiency.
  • Ability to multi-task and operate in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills working with managers and employees.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication.
  • Highly organized and self-motivated.
  • Good understanding of the Employment Standards Act.
The experience we like to see:
  • PCP and CPM or equivalent Payroll designations an asset.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now is an asset.

  • Standard working hours.
  • Overtime and stat holidays may be required based on payroll schedule.

Salary: $90,000 - $110,000 a year
