Job Title: NDT Inspector Trainee

Pay: From $21 an hour

Shift and Schedule: Overtime, Monday to Friday

Job Requirements

Westernbee Engineering Services Ltd is a growing Calgary-based engineering company that requires a Visual Inspector, MT Inspector, etc. Responsibilities include shop inspection and construction site inspections for new fabrication of structural steel, piping, lifting equipment, cranes, etc., and existing structural steel and piping in services.

We are looking for a hardworking individual with a positive attitude. An ability to effectively work as part of a team is essential. The individual should have a desire to continue to grow their knowledge base, competency, and certifications. The applicant will be a trainee and will be trained by Westernbee Engineering Services Ltd.

Education

Structural engineering, mechanical engineering, welding engineering, material engineering, or high school diploma, NDT courses, or equivalent.

Credentials

Has the qualification to apply for CWB LEVEL 1, MT LEVEL 2, UT LEVEL 1, etc.

Experience

Trainee

Testing Equipment and Methods

Visual inspection; Ultrasonic; Nondestructive testing; Magnetic particle; Liquid penetrate, etc.

Specific Skills

  1. Climb heights (may be above 300 feet) to inspect welds and structural steel of equipment.
  2. Prepare, conduct visual, UT, and MT inspections.
  3. Establish NDT techniques and calibration standards.
  4. Conduct tests to ensure quality or detect defects.
  5. Write NDT inspection reports and edit comments on pictures.
  6. Good communication skills in professional methods.
  7. Basic knowledge of all kinds of structural steel of equipment, cranes, etc.
  8. Report NDT inspection results to engineers.
  9. Take measurements for engineers using tape measure and caliper.

Strong mechanical aptitude; familiarity with construction equipment is an asset.

Work Site Environment

Outdoors, indoors, climb heights to 300 feet.

Transportation/Travel Information

Vehicle supplied by employee; willing to travel; valid driver's license; mileage compensation if working location is out of the city.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

Attention to detail; combination of sitting, standing, walking; lift 50 lbs; climb above 300 feet high.
