Position Overview
Under the general supervision of the applicable Director and in collaboration with the Program Teams, the incumbent is responsible for:
- Educational program development for nursing staff including R.N.s, L.P.N.s, R.P.N.s, support staff including U.A.s, N.A.s, U.C.s, and/or applicable technicians.
- Teaching and learning activities.
- Nursing practice standards.
- Professional and self-development.

Experience
- Must have a minimum of four years recent related nursing experience with demonstrated competency in a pediatric area of clinical nursing practice.
- Previous experience in teaching, education, and program development and evaluation is preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Master's degree in Nursing is preferred (equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered).
- Completion of a recognized Perioperative Nursing Course required.
- Successful completion of a recognized Pediatric/Neonatal Critical Care Nursing course is preferred.
- Note: In certain circumstances, certification as an instructor in a specialty training course (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) may be stated as a requirement.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Responsible for maintaining and providing proof of registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
- Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
- Current CPR (Targeted Responder) certification required.
- BLS/PALS/NRP Trainer Certification preferred.
Qualifications and Skills
- Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.
- Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions, and values.
- Demonstrated ability to problem-solve in complex situations.
- Evidence of knowledge of the principles of adult learning and teaching strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to function creatively and independently.
- Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development.
- Initiates and supports change.
- Demonstrated leadership ability.
- Competency with word processing and presentation programs required.
- Demonstrated knowledge, understanding, and application of cultural safety and anti-racism priorities within healthcare.
- Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience working with, Indigenous (First Nations, Métis and Inuit) communities, partners, and organizations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian colonial impacts on Indigenous people in social and health contexts.
- Knowledge and appreciation of the unique history, cultures, and rights of Indigenous Peoples in Canada is required.
- Understanding of, and commitment to, the articles in the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (2019) and the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action (2015) and Manitoba’s Path to Reconciliation Act (2016).
