Job description

On behalf of our Valued Client, Ignite Technical Resources is recruiting a Security Policy Specialist to join our Client's team on a contract basis. This role is Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 remote), and the Client is based in Vancouver, BC.


Summary of the Role:

The Security Policy Specialist will review, consolidate, and optimize Group Policy Objects (GPOs) while developing a robust security framework for a Windows 11 migration project. The role requires expertise in Active Directory, Windows security policies, and endpoint security configurations to ensure compliance with industry standards.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Analyze and consolidate existing GPOs to streamline policy enforcement and enhance system performance.
  2. Design and implement secure, efficient, and scalable GPOs for Windows 11 environments.
  3. Ensure compliance with security frameworks such as CIS benchmarks, NIST CSF, and Microsoft Security Baselines.
  4. Collaborate with IT security, infrastructure, and operations teams to enforce security hardening measures.
  5. Conduct testing and validation of new GPOs to prevent system disruptions and ensure smooth deployment.
  6. Maintain documentation of policy changes, configurations, and implementation procedures.
  7. Provide technical expertise and support for troubleshooting GPO-related issues.

Core Requirements:

  1. 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, including GPO management and Windows security.
  2. Extensive knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy Management, and Windows Server environments.
  3. Strong understanding of security frameworks, compliance standards, and risk mitigation strategies.
  4. Experience with scripting (PowerShell) for automation and policy enforcement.
  5. Proven ability to analyze complex IT environments and develop optimized policy solutions.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  1. Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, Identity and Access Administrator, Security Compliance and Identity Fundamentals.
  2. Experience working in a Mining organization at an enterprise level.
  3. Experience with cloud-based policy management tools such as Intune or Azure AD.
  4. Background in vulnerability management and endpoint protection.

Terms:

This is a 6-month contract to start, with the possibility of an extension. The role follows a Hybrid work model, requiring 3 days onsite in Vancouver per week. Reference checks will be required as part of the hiring process.
