Job description

The Faculty of Dentistry, Dalhousie University, is seeking applications for a full-time, probationary tenure-track or tenure-track prosthodontist at the rank of assistant or associate professor. Prosthodontics is a division in the Department of Dental Clinical Sciences. Teaching responsibilities for this position will include didactic, pre-clinical, and clinical teaching in all aspects of Prosthodontics in the Faculty’s undergraduate and graduate programs. Additional expectations include active participation in research and scholarly activity and faculty committees. Candidates must have successfully completed specialty training in Prosthodontics and be eligible for licensure by the Provincial Dental Board of Nova Scotia. A DDS or DMD is an asset. If the candidate has not successfully completed their National Dental Specialty Exam (NDSE) in Prosthodontics administered in Canada, they must successfully do so within 12 months of the start of the position. Private practice privilege is integrated with this appointment; however, the Provincial Dental Board of Nova Scotia does not offer academic licensure.
Preference will be given to those candidates with didactic and clinical teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels in prosthodontics. Broad experience with removable, fixed and implant prosthodontics is desirable. Experience with digital prosthodontic workflows would be an asset. Additional educational training in the form of instructional courses to support one’s academic career is an asset. Development of a program of research is required; therefore candidates must demonstrate a strong interest in and will to do research, and must have research experience. Experience as an independent principal investigator in research related to prosthodontics is an asset.

Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications, experience and achievements. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a commitment to service including patient care in addition to supporting the University’s efforts in equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility.

Preference will be given to those candidates with a history of scholarly activity. Additional expectations include active participation in research and scholarly activity, Faculty committees and other administrative duties.
