Job Posting: Communicative Disorders Assistant / Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant

Job Type: full-time (salary)

Hours: flexible schedule; services operate Monday to Friday 8am-7pm

Required qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  2. Valid driver’s license with access to a dependable vehicle.
  3. Interpersonal skills necessary to collaborate with internal team members and external community care/other service providers.
  4. Competence in basic computer operations, such as the use of an electronic medical records system (EMR), word processing and spreadsheets.

We provide speech-language treatment in homes and in childcare centers across Windsor and Essex County, ON. We are a neurodiversity-affirming practice. All applicants are expected to understand child-led and neurodiversity affirming practices. Comprehensive training on neurodiversity and gestalt language processing will be provided during the onboarding process.

Clinical duties:

  1. Create individualized activities and therapy materials to meet clients’ communication goals as determined by the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP).
  2. Assist the SLP in carrying out evaluation activities.
  3. Provide therapy to clients of any age or diagnosis - within your clinical capacity - as documented in treatment plans or protocols developed by the SLP.
  4. Prepare progress notes for client files and the SLP.
  5. Ensure all materials, tools, and equipment are cleaned and in good working order.

Clerical/Administrative duties:

  1. Maintain scheduled appointments for clients: cancellations, appointment changes, new intakes.
  2. Communicate with other team members within the organization to ensure continuity and accuracy in the execution of all work responsibilities.
  3. Communicate and maintain professional relationships with community partners, such as doctors, childcare providers, etc.
  4. Participate in networking, marketing, and other promotional events, as necessary.

Preferred qualifications:

  1. Registration with CDAAC or other speech and language associations, such as OSLA or ASHA.
  2. Communicative Disorders Assistant or Communication Health Assistant diploma.
