CNC Machinist - Job Description
NEXE TECHNOLOGY CORP. develops materials and technology for compostable single-serve packaging to confront the global problem of plastic pollution. We are seeking a qualified CNC Machinist to join our team who can deliver effectively and on-time on the objectives of NEXE’s production and operation-related initiatives.
The successful candidate will work under the CNC machining manager and provide support for all things CNC, including set up, programming, operating, and performing quality control on CNC 5-axis machines.

Responsibilities and Duties of the CNC Machinist will include:
- Set-up, program, operate, test, and update 5 axis CNC milling machines, CNC Lathe, Bandsaw, and other equipment as needed;
- Create programs for and perform set-ups on various machine tools;
- Produce custom parts from part, print, or CAD data;
- Read drawings and understand GD&T;
- Deburr and perform verification of parts to drawing specifications;
- Follow precise specifications and work to tight tolerances;
- Rework, repair, and sharpen associated tools as required;
- Maintain and calibrate precision measuring instruments;
- Load/unload raw materials and equipment;
- Work with R&D team to develop innovative solutions;
- Minimize scrap and rework;
- Verify dimensions of parts machined using precision measuring instruments (e.g., Micrometers, Calipers);
- Monitor for problems and clear machine blockages as required;
- Perform quality control, follow reporting and recordkeeping procedures, and report problems to the supervisor;
- Perform corrective and preventive machine adjustments, clean machines and immediate work areas;
- Operate forklift and overhead cranes;
- Comply with all health and safety regulations;
- Additional tasks that may be assigned from time to time.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Experience operating Haas CNCs.
- Familiar with GibbsCam, SolidWorks, and Fusion 360.
- CNC machinist experience in a manufacturing facility, or similar relevant experience;
- Knowledge of 3, 4, 5 axis programming;
- Competent using measuring equipment such as OD & ID micrometers, bore micrometers, Vernier calipers, gauge blocks/pins, height gauges, thickness gauges, depth gauges, and dial indicators.
- Strong understanding of production and plant processes;
- Good working knowledge of tooling and cutting processes;
- Experience in programming and machining complex fabricated parts;
- Detail-oriented;
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions;
- Knowledge of robot automation is an asset;
- Ability to work in a team environment;
- Ability to lift heavy equipment, bend, and stand or walk for long periods of time;
- Willingness to work in shifts (late or early hours, weekends, and overtime if necessary);
- Strong communication and time-management skills;
- Ability to use Microsoft Office and Google Suite Products;
- Fluency in spoken and written English.

Experience and Education:
- Technical College, Diploma, or Certificate with focus on CNC Programming and CNC operation.
- Up to 5 years of experience.
Salary: Annual
- $39,000 - $57,000 Depending on Experience.
