Position Description

A temporary full-time (1.0) French Immersion Intermediate Teacher is required by School District No. 60 (Peace River North) effective September 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026. The assignment will be at École Central Elementary School, a K-6 Fine Arts French Immersion school located in the heart of downtown Fort St. John, in the beautiful Peace River Valley.

Qualifications and Experience

1. Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)
2. All applicants will be required to participate in a French fluency assessment (written & oral)
3. Qualifications and demonstrated ability to teach the identified subjects at the elementary years level
4. Experience with universal design and differentiation to meet the diverse needs of students
5. Excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and organization skills
6. Experience/training/knowledge of Social Emotional Learning
7. Demonstrated ability to create a positive classroom community contributing to a safe, caring, and healthy school where every student feels a sense of belonging
8. Strong belief in the philosophy of inclusion and the potential of all students to learn
9. Understanding of the BC Curriculum and ability to plan both short-term and long-term in consideration of class composition
10. Willingness to work in a collaborative model with staff on the foundation of enhancing student learning
11. Demonstrated use of classroom management practices that are proactive and maintain student dignity
12. Demonstrated use of assessment practices that promote student learning and maintain student dignity
13. Experience and/or coursework in teaching a minimum of one Fine Arts strand with the ability to contribute to the overall vision of a Fine Arts school
14. Integration of computer technology into the learning environment
15. Committed to working with staff on the school plan and with professional development
16. Expertise/interest in teaching in the Fine Arts

Compensation

1. $2000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB, and Yukon; up to $4000 for teachers from other areas
2. $3,035 recruitment allowance (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on the FTE)
3. Salary as per collective agreement. Current salary grid is $65,397 - $111,952
4. Benefits as per collective agreement with the option to enroll in medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance. Benefits are employer paid based on FTE
