Since 2002, the Disability Management Institute has been providing comprehensive claims management and claims review services to clients throughout Canada.
YOUR ROLE
As a Work-Health Consultant, you are a Self-Employed sub-contractor with excellent verbal and written communication skills to provide services in Canada. We employ a “holistic outcomes” approach in all of our services to uncover the underlying drivers that are at the root of unnecessary or prolonged absence. This is a remote opportunity with the ideal candidate based in Fort McMurray, Alberta.
YOUR IMPACT
You will be responsible for providing a high caliber of varied rehabilitation services to a broad customer and client base within both the Insurance and Employer marketplace. The focus will be to assist the client to attain a more productive lifestyle, including a return to work. This will be done through the development of timely, cost-effective rehabilitation planning and coordination, while positively impacting the claims handling process.
- You will serve as an expert rehabilitation management resource to interview, review and evaluate health event factors to determine degrees of ability and employability.
- You will provide assessment of clients for determination of suitable rehabilitation goal setting in keeping with insurer policy provisions.
- You will provide interpretive analysis of medical documentation and other data.
- You will develop and implement cost-effective rehabilitation programs, which meet contractual agreements made with the customer while meeting the standards committed to by DMI.
- You will utilize external and internal resources, as necessary, to progress files forward to resolution, with a focus on function and gainful employment.
- You will manage external referrals, services and relationships with service providers and strategic partners through research and knowledge of local community resources.
- You have an understanding of job descriptions and job demands in relation to functional abilities.
- You engage in professional interaction with clients, employers, insurers, and union representatives on a regular basis, including timely and efficient follow-up to telephone and email communication.
- You will provide timely in-depth documentation and report writing to ensure progression and fulfillment of rehabilitation goals.
THIS IS YOU
- You have 3-5 years' experience with injury, recovery, disability, and rehabilitation.
- You have excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- You are able to compile and generate detailed, accurate, and comprehensive reports.
- You have strong ethical standards, practices, and professional integrity.
- You have the ability to multi-task and work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment demonstrating superior oral and written communication skills, solid organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate with several vocational programs simultaneously.
THIS IS NICE
- You have a relevant post-secondary degree in Kinesiology, Occupational Therapy, Rehabilitation, or Physical Therapy (with associated designation).
- You are certified in completing functional capacity evaluations and work site visits, or you are eligible to be certified.
- You have a good standing relationship with an associated regulatory body (i.e., BCAK, CAOT-BC, etc.) and/or are a member of the Vocational Rehabilitation Association of Canada (VRA).
