Wataynikaneyap Power PM Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of FortisOntario Inc., acts as the Project Manager of Wataynikaneyap Power LP (“Wataynikaneyap Power”). Wataynikaneyap Power is a licensed transmission entity, majority-owned by a partnership of 24 First Nation communities in partnership with Fortis Inc. and other private investors. The partnership is an unprecedented undertaking and has constructed 1,800 kilometres of 230 kV, 115 kV, and 44 kV transmission lines and over 22 substations in northwestern Ontario. Manager, Health, Safety & Environment
Full-Time Permanent Position
The Manager, Health, Safety & Environment will report to the Director, Operations & Engineering, Wataynikaneyap Power PM Inc. This role will provide leadership, direction and support in all areas related to health and safety, while focusing on worker and public safety and compliance with occupational health and safety legislation in the ongoing operation and maintenance of Wataynikaneyap Power’s transmission system. This role will also be responsible for ensuring the company has strong stewardship of the Environment in all its work activities that interact or have the potential to impact the land or environment. In doing so, this position will oversee the development and maintenance of an enhanced Environmental Management System that reflects Wataynikaneyap Power’s Guiding Principles and Indigenous perspectives on environmental and land stewardship obtained through regular engagement, as well as understanding legislated requirements and industry practices.
