PURPOSE
CST Canada Coal Limited (CST Coal) is seeking an Entry-Level Environmental Technologist to join our Resource Management Team. This position is responsible for performing field, laboratory and office functions which support delivery of the multi-faceted environmental program. The members of the Resource Management Team at CST Coal work together to remain compliant with all legislative and policy requirements governing its Approval to operate issued under the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act (EPEA).

ACCOUNTABILITY
Reporting directly to the Environmental Coordinator, the successful candidate will gain hands-on training, assist with on-site logistics, conduct field sampling and reporting.

Education
Working towards a two-year technical diploma or Bachelor's in Environmental Science, Wildlife or Resource Management or related field is required.
Experience
This is an entry-level position with a great opportunity to gain experience in many different environmental disciplines including water, air, wildlife, reclamation, waste management, and more. No prior environmental field experience working in an industrial, government or scientific community is necessary, however prior experience would be considered an asset. On-the-job training and feedback will be provided to help you be successful.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The successful candidate will be joining our team with CST and working on site at our Grande Cache Coal Mine. The commute from Grande Cache is approximately 20 km on Highway 40 North. Accommodations through CST Coal may be available.
The chosen candidate will be split between an office setting (approx. 30% of the time) and outdoors (approx. 70% of the time). Due to the nature of the mine site there is potential to be exposed to fire, wildlife, smoke, fumes, odors or chemicals associated with laboratory analysis and rough and steep terrain. Occasional travel may be required outside the work area in order to attend conferences, courses or meetings.
As a condition of employment, the incumbent is required to comply with pre and post-employment drug and alcohol testing as per the Drug and Alcohol Policy. As required, personal protective equipment will include the use of an approved hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe boots, hearing protection, CSA approved respiratory protection, protective clothing and gloves, personal flotation device, hip waders, goggles and ATV helmet. Vaccinations for rabies, hepatitis and tetanus are required.
