What will you do?

Reporting to Director, Benefit Systems, the Business Systems Analyst is responsible for performing strategic business analysis, configuration, and maintenance within the benefit administration system in support of organizational goals and objectives. The Business Systems Analyst will catalogue processes, gather business requirements, and perform gap analysis to discover inefficiencies and recommend and implement improvements. The Business Systems Analyst will re-engineer and automate processes and sub-processes as necessary for the purpose of determining and meeting the organization's technology plans. The Business Systems Analyst will serve as a cross-departmental liaison between the Benefit Systems department and strategic business units.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct ongoing benefit administration system configuration and maintenance.
  • Research and review processes that support business functions and system requirements.
  • Perform gap analysis to identify, recommend, and implement process improvements.
  • Flowchart business processes to define operational activities, procedures, and models.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders such as system owners and end users to refine business operations requirements and goals.
  • Analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of business processes and develop strategies for enhancement using Robotic Process Automation (RPA).
  • Identify omissions and errors in business requirements by conducting feasibility studies.
  • Evaluate system efficacy and perform data analysis.
  • Develop and present ad hoc reports in support of various business process initiatives both internally and externally.
  • Conduct impact analysis with key stakeholder groups to examine outcomes of modifications within the benefit administration system.
  • Create new procedures to enhance business processes, operations, and data flow.
  • Develop procedures using Structured Query Language (SQL) and support database administration.
  • Perform analysis of job impact on business users; monitor impact scenarios throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and system implementation.
  • Design, develop, and distribute training for impacted business users.
  • Integrate new or revised business processes for incorporation into strategic decision making.
  • Facilitate requirement gathering workshops and engage stakeholder groups.
  • Conduct quality assurance, regression, and user acceptance testing.
  • Manage and coordinate research and database surveys.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in computer science, information systems, software development or a related field is required.
  • 5-7 years of direct work experience in software development, information technology, or relevant discipline is required.
  • Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP) designation is preferred.
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) experience is considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of UI Path processes.
  • Working knowledge of RPA and system automation processes.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing business and technical requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience modeling and mapping business processes using proven methodologies and models.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented development languages.
  • Expertise in designing, developing, and implementing re-engineered business processes and associated software and hardware.
  • Direct knowledge of database management and various data retrieval methodologies, including data importing to spreadsheets, and graphs.
  • Able to write operational procedures in both technical and user-oriented language.
  • Ability to troubleshoot business process changes, errors, and subsequent modifications; must be able to do this with the work of other analysts.
  • Able to interpret the operational requirements of end users, project managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency to apply knowledge of grammar, punctuation, structure, spelling, tone, proofreading, clarity, and organization.
  • Provides and practices sound judgment using independent decision-making.
