The impact you will have:

As a Controller at UCS Forest Group, you will be a valued member of the company’s finance leadership reporting to the CFO. You will be responsible for the accounting operations of the company, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.

What you will do:

  • Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior management by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points.
  • Guide financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures to the current economic landscape.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines.
  • Achieve budgeting goals with proper scheduling, analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Help develop and support short and long-term operational strategies.
  • Maintain a strong control environment, including assurance and compliance.

What you bring to the table:

Management:

  • Skills to maintain and enforce a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Lead and develop a group of professionals and specialists.
  • Manage any outsourced functions such as internal/external auditors.
  • Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department’s goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the annual inventory count process.
  • Assist in cash flow management.
  • Manage all capital expenditure requests and requirements.
  • Ensure the Accounting team collaborates in partnership with other groups as necessary within the organization.

Transactions:

  • Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that all reasonable discounts are applied to accounts payable.
  • Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed.
  • Ensure that debt payments are made in a timely manner.
  • Maintain the Chart of Accounts.
  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system.
  • Maintain a system of controls for accounting transactions.

Reporting:

  • Issue timely and complete financial statements.
  • Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations.
  • Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics.
  • Manage the production of the annual overheads budget and forecasts.
  • Calculate overheads variances from the budget and report significant issues to senior leadership.
  • Oversee the preparation and completion of the month-end/year-end process close.
  • Develop a system of management cost reports.
  • Oversee the development and issuance of Quarterly Board reports.
