Our company is a well-established real estate firm that owns and manages a portfolio of 300-400 residential apartments throughout Montreal. Some of these properties are fully owned, while others are managed on behalf of investors and partners. We specialize in property management, development, and investment, ensuring that our assets are maintained to the highest standards while delivering value to tenants and stakeholders. We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Bookkeeper/Secretary to join our Montreal office. This role is crucial in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring smooth administrative operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in bookkeeping, monthly bank reconciliations, and financial statement reconciliation. You will play a key role in supporting the financial health of our company while also assisting with essential administrative tasks to keep the office running efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform basic bookkeeping tasks, including data entry, accounts payable and receivable, and financial recordkeeping.
  • Reconcile monthly bank statements and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Maintain and organize financial documents, invoices, and records.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
  • Coordinate with external accountants and financial professionals as needed.
  • Provide administrative support, including scheduling, document management, and office correspondence.
  • Handle confidential financial and business information with discretion.
  • Support general office operations and assist in day-to-day administrative tasks.
  • Monitor and manage office expenses, ensuring cost-effective solutions where possible.
  • Assist in preparing reports for senior management to support decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Previous bookkeeping experience is required.
  • Proficiency in monthly bank reconciliations and financial statement reconciliation.
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial recordkeeping.
  • Experience in the real estate industry is an asset but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve them efficiently.

Compensation

  • Salary Range: $40,000 - $60,000 per year (commensurate with experience).
