Moduly was founded in 2020 in Montreal, Canada, to revolutionize energy storage and management. We are building the future of smart, modular energy systems—combining battery storage, IoT controls, and AI-driven optimization to help residential and commercial users reduce energy costs, manage peak demand, and lower their carbon footprint.

Now, we are looking for a hands-on, self-motivated, and versatile CTO to lead our technology development and scale our platform to the next level.

What You’ll Do Technology Leadership & Product Strategy

• Own end-to-end technology development, from R&D to product execution.
• Define and oversee the technical architecture, product roadmap, and scalability strategy.
• Balance short-term delivery goals with long-term innovation.
• Ensure our technology aligns with market needs, competitive landscape, and business growth goals.

Hardware & Software Development

• Lead the design and development of our energy storage hardware & smart software ecosystem.
• Ensure seamless IoT integration, grid connectivity, and AI-powered automation.
• Solve complex power electronics and energy optimization challenges.
• Be hands-on and willing to wear multiple hats, especially in the early stages.

Team Building & Cross-functional Leadership

• Build, mentor, and scale a top-tier engineering and product team.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, rapid iteration, and technical excellence.
• Work closely with business, operations, and investor teams to align technology with growth.

Collaboration & Travel

• Work independently from home or from the office—flexibility is key.
• Be willing to travel to meet customers, investors, and partners or participate in accelerators and industry events.

Must-Have Skills & Experience

• 7+ years of technical leadership (CTO, VP of Engineering, or Lead Engineer role).
• 5+ Years in a Startup Environment in similar role
• Strong background in hardware-software integration (energy tech, IoT, SaaS, AI, or related).
• Hands-on expertise in power electronics, battery storage, and embedded systems.
• Experience leading full-stack development (cloud-based platforms, mobile apps, and API integrations).
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for clean energy and sustainability.
• Strong communication skills—able to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with AI-driven energy optimization.
• Knowledge of demand response, grid flexibility, and VPP solutions.
• History of scaling a tech startup from MVP to large-scale deployment.
• Track record of securing government grants or utility partnerships.
