Waste Connections of Canada is looking for a safety inclined, energetic, autonomous, and proactive Operations Supervisor.

As an Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising a team of drivers, heavy equipment operators, and scale attendants daily. You will ensure that operations are running safely by coaching your team, completing job observations, and providing safety training.

In this role, your team would consist of:

  1. 15-18 Drivers

Main Accountabilities:

  1. Oversee the day-to-day operations of your team.
  2. Review route sheets daily with dispatch to identify areas of improvement.
  3. Review volume reports daily with scale attendant to ensure compliance with the Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) for the Waste Transfer and Material Recovery Facility.
  4. Review Vehicle Condition Reports (VCRs) along with completing pre and post trip observations by Drivers and Heavy Equipment Operators to ensure compliance with daily safety and maintenance checks.
  5. Provide coaching and guidance to team members as required.
  6. Ensure that team members' payroll data is accurate and processed daily.
  7. Plan, monitor, and schedule team members accordingly to fit the operational needs daily.
  8. Performance management of employees through the progressive discipline process.
  9. Conduct incident investigations including scene management, first incident report, and final analysis with root cause and preventative measures.
  10. Maintain Environmental Health and Safety programs including training, meetings, and required reporting of relevant EH&S issues.
  11. Maintain adherence to company safety policies and MTO regulations.
  12. Maintain adherence to company operational policies and MECP regulations for the Waste Transfer and Material Recovery Facility.

Requirements:

  1. Must put safety first in all decisions.
  2. Must possess a valid AZ driver's license.
  3. Must be willing to work Monday through Friday with occasional Saturday and Statutory Holiday work.
  4. Must possess basic computer skills and knowledge.

Preferences:

  1. Proven experience operating Yellow Iron equipment such as Bucket Loaders and Excavators.
  2. Prior experience in a supervisory role.
  3. Experience and comfort using Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Job Specifics:

  1. Monday to Friday.
  2. 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.
  3. Occasional Saturday and Statutory Holiday work required.
  4. Company provided pickup truck to be used while at work (successful candidate must have transportation to and from work).
  5. Company provided laptop and cell phone.
