Job description

Reporting to the Senior Director, Real Estate Finance, the Analyst will be responsible for assisting the Real Estate Finance Team in meeting CDPQ’s construction loan mortgage investment objectives and their ongoing monitoring and administration in both Canada and the US. The successful candidate for this demanding position must be able to operate independently and as part of the team in a high volume and fast-paced environment, requiring handling multiple tasks and meeting strict deadlines.

This involves:

  1. Completing property underwriting analysis (including market, project budget, cash flow analyses, valuation).
  2. Preparing monthly and annual reporting submissions.
  3. Assisting with the drafting of approval documentation.

What you will do

  • Underwrite new opportunities and assist in the preparation of comprehensive narrative and analytical approval documentation;
  • Complete due diligence including market reviews, condominium sales reviews, project budget reviews, lease reviews, borrower and guarantor financial statement analysis and review of property reports (appraisal, environmental and geotechnical);
  • Asset management and completion of periodic reviews for the existing mortgage portfolio, due diligence for loan closings and update mortgage administration system;
  • Processing and obtaining of the necessary internal approvals for various borrower requests (amendments to loan structure (i.e. sources and uses, loan term extensions, partial discharges, etc.);
  • Preparation/validation of various internal reports;
  • Assist in drafting of term sheets and commitment letters.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration or Real Estate is an asset.
  • Recent graduate or will be graduating soon;
  • An understanding of real estate, its development and valuation;
  • Excellent Excel skills;
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Word;
  • General understanding of loan documentation;
  • An understanding of underwriting from lender’s perspective;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, relationship managers and credit managers.
