The Role
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Total Rewards, the Senior Analyst, Total Rewards plays a key role in the design, implementation, and management of total rewards programs, including compensation, benefits, and incentive programs.
This role will be responsible for advanced analytics, program effectiveness, and process optimization, acting as a subject matter expert and providing insights to HR and business leaders. The Senior Analyst contributes to the strategic direction of total rewards by providing insights, optimizing processes, and supporting major initiatives in collaboration with key stakeholders.
Total Rewards Strategy & Execution
- Support the execution of compensation benchmarking activities, analyzing internal and external data to ensure market competitiveness and internal equity.
- Participate in the completion and analysis of compensation and benefits surveys, providing insights on pay trends and competitive positioning (e.g., executive & non-executive surveys, compensation planning, benefits and retirement benchmarking).
- Conduct job evaluations of new and revised roles using company’s job evaluation methodology.
- Provide guidance to the HR team on job leveling, salary band placement, and market adjustments.
- Assist in revising and maintaining job descriptions for evaluations and ensuring alignment with market standards.
- Administer the variable compensation programs, ensuring compliance and alignment with plan guidelines.
- Support the annual salary and bonus review process, ensuring smooth execution at year-end.
- Develop tools and materials to enhance employee education and communication regarding total reward programs (e.g. monthly wellness insight emails, quarterly wellness newsletters).
- Support the annual benefits enrolment process and escalation of complex benefit inquiries.
- Partner with HR team and business leaders to provide guidance on best practices and recommend opportunities to improve our total reward programs.
Total Rewards Analytics
- Prepare/Develop and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual compensation and benefit reports, as required, to identify trends and making recommendations for improvements.
- Research on trends, practices and techniques pertaining to total rewards and determine appropriate applications to business requirements.
- Support HR technology initiatives, including testing, analysis, enhancement and implementation of current platforms (e.g. HRIS), as well as implementation of new ones.
Business Unit Initiatives and Assigned Projects
- Collaborate and support total rewards initiatives or projects, such as policy updates, compensation/benefits/incentive plan reviews/redesign projects.
- Monitor market trends and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and competitive positioning.
- Other duties as assigned, including assistance with HR team projects.
What You Bring To The Team
- 4+ years of experience in compensation, benefits, or total rewards.
- Experience with HR technologies (e.g., UKG Ulti Pro is an asset).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where you can contribute with your in-depth knowledge of compensation and analytics.
- Strong proficiency in Excel (advance modeling, formulas, macros, pivot tables, charts and VLOOKUPs) and other MS office software.
- Superior attention to detail with an emphasis on data integrity and data quality.
- Strong analytical skills, ability to present data-driven recommendations, and experience working with HR leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of the principles, concepts, standards, methods and techniques of compensation and HR business metrics and analytics—including the interpretation of metrics.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience in the creation of trending overviews, executive summaries and written recommendations, including best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, effective and comfortable working within vendors to resolve issues.
- Able to provide sound judgment, with an ability to maintain confidentiality and utilize discretion while working with sensitive information.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with ability to multi-task, adapt to changing priorities and deliver effectively on ad hoc requests.
- University or college degree in Human Resources with business/finance background an asset.
- Compensation or HR certification (CCP/CHRP/CHRL) or in progress an asset.
