The Role

The Senior Asset Quality Analyst is accountable for carrying out all activities associated with MCAP’s Asset Quality Programs. This role is accountable for measuring MCAP’s ability to originate compliant and marketable loans, providing unbiased and relevant feedback to the business to support continuous improvement, and taking pre-emptive measures to mitigate risks associated with deficiencies identified in files selected for external audit and defaulted loans that have potential to be contentious with external partners.

This role will represent MCAP in a competent and professional manner, using their strong analytical skills, underwriting expertise, good judgement and solid work ethic as needed to serve and protect the company’s interests.

Asset Quality

  • Conduct quality assurance file reviews within established performance goals and objectives ensuring compliance to program requirements, consistent decision making and communication to key stakeholders on deficiencies.
  • Contribute to the integrity and accuracy of MCAP SF Asset Quality Programs by performing secondary reviews on program findings.
  • Lead external audits ensuring optimal external relationship management (investors/insurers), preparation, remediation, and effective hosting of file reviews in a professional manner.
  • End to end management of custom audit events designed to monitor specific risk.
  • Analyze audit results, identify risks and opportunities and report on results with appropriate recommendations.
  • Receive external partner questions and/or notice of deficiencies and prepare the appropriate response in a timely, competent and professional manner.
  • Support the Sub-Servicing and MCAP process control annual review by assisting in supplying the relevant data and documentation.
  • Proactively recognize opportunities for operational improvements, make effective recommendations and implement upon approval from Manager, Asset Quality.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of initiatives to drive clarity and awareness of Asset Quality Program requirements both within the Credit Quality & Risk Management Team and Origination as a whole.
  • Support Credit Quality & Risk Management Team projects as required with timely & accurate delivery aligned to scope of requirements.
  • Proactively manage individual workload to ensure all activities are completed accurately and on time, supporting peers as required to ensure the overall deliverables for the team are achieved.
  • Assist in the development of requirements for future releases of AQ Program and Underwriting systems to support Asset Quality.

What You Bring To The Team

  • Bilingual French & English Required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years residential mortgage underwriting or quality assurance experience.
  • Excellent working knowledge of MCAP Residential Mortgage Underwriting Policy, multi brands.
  • Good understanding of the Mortgage Life Cycle and the MCAP Business Model.
  • Knowledge of MCAP technical and professional discipline, business objectives, policy drivers and the ability to apply practical solutions based on this.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with ability to build solid, working relationships.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, investigative, problem-solving skills and time management skills.
  • Self-driven, motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Thinks strategically and articulates concepts clearly.
  • Ability to understand financial statements and assess financial viability.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel (ability to contextualize data to demonstrate trends).
  • Good working knowledge of all MCAP SF origination and servicing systems.
  • University Degree/College Diploma, preferable.
