The Metro Vancouver Transit Police Service is the Lower Mainland’s newest police service and the only one of its kind in Canada. In joining the Transit Police, you will be playing a key role in the safety of commuters and members of communities throughout the Lower Mainland. You will be helping to build the image of transit as a safe and desirable alternative to the personal automobile, which will ensure that the Lower Mainland remains a livable region for generations to come.
Responsibilities
SUMMARY:
Provides strategic and operational crime analysis support across all modes of transit, individuals, infrastructure, and vendors working on or adjacent to TransLink facilities. Participates in the review of strategic priorities of crime reduction, prevention initiatives, and investigations. Liaises with a variety of internal and external units, such as intelligence and military agencies, and regional police. Tracks, maintains, and manages crime data; acts as the subject matter expert on the interpretation of this data. Maintains and monitors current developments in the field of crime analysis, technology, and criminology. Prepares and presents various reports, bulletins, crime statistics, and correspondence for senior management meetings, briefings, task forces, and dissemination. Creates and maintains various templates and spreadsheets for new initiatives. Performs related work as assigned, such as items of minor nature that do not affect the value of the job.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Requires a university degree in Social Sciences.
Experience
Up to two (2) years of experience in a police environment or criminal justice system. Knowledge and experience working with computer applications, including, but not limited to PRIME, CAD, CPIC, JUSTIN, IBM Analyst Notebook, iBase with ArcMap conduit, and CORNET. Considerable applicable experience in research, statistical and analytical principles, practices, procedures, forecasting methods, and techniques. Requires up to one (1) year in the position to become familiar with operations within the TSML division, including the use of internal data management systems.
A combination of equivalent education and experience will also be considered for this position.
Work Schedule
37.5 hours per week.
Work Designation
Hybrid. This position offers the flexibility of working both on-site and from home.
Rate of Pay
Group 10: $7,556 to $9,062 per month.
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
