Structural Steel Detailer/Draftsperson

About the Opportunity:

As a Structural Steel Detailer / Draftsperson, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality fabrication and erection drawings using Tekla Structures. You’ll work across departments to ensure accuracy, compliance with Canadian steel standards, and timely delivery for clients and manufacturing partners.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a track record in Tekla and deep knowledge of Canadian structural steel practices, particularly CISC guidelines.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Prepare and check detailed shop and erection drawings using Tekla Structures
• Create accurate 3D models and structural/cladding packages for fabrication and construction
• Interpret architectural and engineering drawings for coordination and accuracy
• Ensure compliance with contract documents, engineered designs, and company standards
• Meet delivery expectations and timelines for internal and external stakeholders
• Collaborate with internal teams and offer ideas for continuous improvement in software and processes
• Provide support to manufacturing and drafting teams, including part checks and drawing reviews

What You Bring:

• Diploma in Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field
• Proven experience with Tekla Structures (required)
• Strong knowledge of Canadian steel standards and CISC design practices (required)
• A track record in structural steel detailing and checking
• Ability to produce accurate drawings and interpret construction documents
• Knowledge of standard steel fabrication, cladding, and erection practices
• Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Excel is an asset
• Highly detail-oriented, motivated, and organized with strong communication skills
