The City of Saint John is actively seeking candidates to fill four summer positions of Special Events Coordinator, beginning mid-May.
Under the direct supervision of the Growth Coordinator, the Special Events Coordinators will be responsible for coordinating, planning, and implementing a variety of special events and activities that create a more vibrant and welcoming Saint John.
The incumbent will work closely with the City’s Growth and Community Services team to deliver on a variety of City initiated events and programming such as the Night Market; the (CBPT) Community Block Party Trailer; Saint John Welcome Events; the Playground Program; and other duties as assigned.
The successful applicant will also work with a variety of event organizers, community partners, and neighborhood associations to assist them in the successful delivery of their events when City services are requested.
The Special Events Coordinator will coordinate and supervise vendors, volunteers, and other staff as needed, and ensure that all events and activities are conducted in a manner that supports Growth and upholds public safety.
The successful candidate has a track record of being organized, creative, responsible, self-directed, and passionate about Saint John. Much of the work will take place outdoors, and some evening and weekend work will be required.
Preference will be given to a student enrolled in a post-secondary institution studying Recreation, Arts, Planning, Business, or equivalent.
Prior experience in event coordination is an asset.
Prior experience in supervision of staff or volunteers is an asset.
CPR and First Aid Certification must be acquired prior to, or shortly after the start date.
A valid Class 5 Driver’s License is required.
