Job DescriptionIn a world where the energy transition is taking on all its importance, as a CEP in protection & control (P&C), you will be called upon to play an active part in clean energy projects related to hydropower & dam facilities. Our switchgear and control team is looking for people to help us carry out engineering work on a variety of large-scale, multidisciplinary projects, such as refurbishing generating units, electrical and mechanical auxiliary services and automation at Hydro-Québec power plants. You will work in a multidisciplinary environment and develop your skills by working with experienced professionals. We offer a flexible hybrid work arrangement that allows you to work from home and from the Sherbrooke or Granby offices.
Primary ResponsibilitiesElectrical Testing & Commissioning (T&C)- Designing electrical power systems and their layouts for various hydroelectric power station projects.
- Participating in the development of electrical systems, including schematics and layout plans for electrical equipment such as medium-voltage cabinets, high-voltage equipment, electrical distribution centres, etc.
- Preparing project deliverables such as plan views, elevations, including detail drawings, miscellaneous layouts, diagrams, etc.
- Carrying out or validating calculations for sizing equipment, selecting power cable gauges, etc.
Protection & Control (P&C)- Prepare the protection & control engineering for the following systems and equipment:
- Control, measurement, monitoring and protection system for the turbine-generator set;
- Group instrumentation: analogue instrumentation cabinet or digital systems;
- Power plant control computer network;
- Interface with the speed governor, pump unit and static excitation;
- Control and remote control of discharge valves and water intakes;
- Control of mechanical auxiliary systems (air, water, oil).
- Participating in the development of electrical control and protection systems, including single-line, three-line AC, protection and control diagrams, as well as wiring and equipment connection drawings, assembly plans, material lists and cable lists.
- Participating in the design of DC power systems, including one-line diagrams, battery capacity calculations and connection drawings for chargers, batteries, inverters, etc.
- Participating in the preparation of specifications for the manufacture and installation of equipment on site.
Other Responsibilities- Working with senior engineers and technicians on technical tasks.
- Participating in project coordination meetings and design reviews.
- Coordinating work with the other engineering disciplines involved in projects, such as structural, civil, auxiliary mechanical, heavy mechanical, building engineering and architecture.
- Participating in site surveys.
- Opportunity to provide site assistance and start-up services.
Qualifications- University degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Member of l'Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or eligible for registration.
- 0 to 5 years or more of relevant experience.
- Fluency in spoken and written French.
- Basic knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
